Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Gary, Habitat for Humanity of Northwest Indiana, and the Diocese of Gary have teamed up to develop Tabor House.
This is a home for a low income family ready for taking a giant step toward self-sufficiency.
Habitat for Humanity of Northwest Indiana lead the construction process of Tabor House. Catholic Charities and its staff manages Tabor House by providing supportive and encouraging services to family members living in this home to ensure that their needs are being met and that they continue to move forward towards their goals.
Housing is often the greatest barrier to moving out of poverty and into self-sufficiency. The opportunity Tabor House presents is temporarily alleviating the burden of poverty for a family, so they can move towards self-sufficiency through stable employment, healthier family dynamics, and more attention to education.
